# EnginAIer — User Guide (English)

EnginAIer is a desktop assistant that connects to your engineering software (Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, Navisworks, Tekla, OpenRoads, Dynamo, and more) so you can ask questions and run design tasks in natural language.

This guide explains how to **download**, **install**, **connect**, and **use** the tool.

---

## 1. What you need

| Requirement | Details |
|-------------|---------|
| **Operating system** | Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) |
| **CAD / BIM software** | At least one product whose release is marked **Available** in the table below |
| **Internet connection** | Required — EnginAIer talks to our secure cloud service |
| **EnginAIer account** | Sign in with your email and password in the app |
| **Disk space** | About 500 MB |

**You do not need to install anything else.** No database, no Node.js, no servers, no command line. Everything EnginAIer needs is included in the installer, and your account, history, and AI processing are hosted by us.

---

## 2. Download and install the desktop app

1. Download **EnginAIer-Setup.exe** from the link your organization provided.
2. Double-click the installer.
3. Choose an install folder (or accept the default) and click **Install**.
4. Launch **EnginAIer** from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.

That’s it — the app connects to the EnginAIer cloud service automatically.

> **If Windows shows a security prompt:** click **More info → Run anyway**. This appears for newly published applications.

---

## 3. First launch — sign in

1. Open EnginAIer.
2. On the home screen, choose **Sign in** (or **Create account** if you are new).
3. Use your EnginAIer email and password.
4. After sign-in you see the main chat workspace.

**Login tips**

- Type your email carefully — for example `name@enginaier.com`.
- If sign-in fails, check your internet connection, then try again.
- Forgot your password? Contact your EnginAIer administrator.

---

## 4. Download and install CAD plugins

Plugins are small bridges that let EnginAIer talk to Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, etc.

### From the desktop app

1. In the left sidebar, click **Download plugins** (or the gear icon → **Download plugins**).
2. Open the **Detect software** tab and click **Scan** — EnginAIer finds installed CAD products on your PC.
3. Open the **Download** tab.
4. For each product you use, click **Install** on the matching plugin card (e.g. **Civil 3D 2025**, **Revit 2025**).
5. Open the **Status** tab to confirm installed plugins.

Plugins are stored under:

`%LOCALAPPDATA%\EnginAIer\plugins`

### Products and their verification status

<!-- verified-support:begin guide-products -->
The status below comes from `docs/verified-support.json`, the single source of truth for every support claim in this product. Nothing reads **Available** until it has cleared the full verification bar on a real install of that exact release.

> **The verification bar:** A product-year is verified when, on a real install of that exact product and year: (1) the plugin loads automatically with no manual NETLOAD/APPLOAD/add-in step, (2) the MCP pipe responds, and (3) at least one real command beyond ping succeeds and its effect is confirmed.

| Software | Plugin badge in app | Status |
|----------|---------------------|--------|
| Autodesk Civil 3D 2024 | C3D | In verification |
| Autodesk Civil 3D 2025 | C3D | In verification |
| Autodesk Civil 3D 2026 | C3D | In verification |
| Autodesk Revit 2024 | RVT | In verification |
| Autodesk Revit 2025 | RVT | Planned |
| Autodesk Revit 2026 | RVT | Planned |
| Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2024 | NW | In verification |
| Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2025 | NW | Planned |
| Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2026 | NW | Planned |
| Bentley OpenRoads Designer 2023 | ORD | Planned |
| Bentley OpenRoads Designer 2024 | ORD | In verification |
| Rhinoceros 7 / 8 | R7 / R8 | Planned |
| Grasshopper (in Rhino) | GH | Planned |
| Tekla Structures 2024 / 2025 / 2026 | Tekla | In verification |
| Dynamo (Revit / Civil 3D / Sandbox) | Dynamo | In verification |

- **Available** — All three criteria of the verification bar were met on a real install of this exact product and year, and the evidence is recorded below.
- **In verification** — A build artifact exists, but at least one criterion of the verification bar has not been demonstrated on a real install. Must not be presented as available.
- **Planned** — No build artifact exists for this product-year. Must not be presented as available or as in verification.
<!-- verified-support:end guide-products -->

Install only the plugins you need.

## 5. Restart your CAD software

**There is nothing to load by hand.** When you install a plugin, EnginAIer registers it in the folder your CAD software reads on startup, so:

1. **Close** the CAD application if it is open.
2. **Open it again.**
3. Back in EnginAIer, the matching pill (**C3D**, **RVT**, **R8**, …) shows a **green dot** once connected.

No `NETLOAD`, no copying DLLs, no plugin manager.

### Where each plugin goes

| Software | Registered in |
|----------|---------------|
| Civil 3D / AutoCAD | Autodesk plugin bundle folder (loads on startup) |
| Revit | Revit add-ins folder for that year |
| Navisworks | Navisworks plugins folder for that year |
| Rhino / Grasshopper | Rhino packages / Grasshopper Libraries folder |
| Dynamo | Dynamo packages folder |
| Tekla Structures | Tekla extensions folder |

If a product cannot be registered automatically, the plugin card in EnginAIer tells you so and explains what to do instead.

### Verifying the connection

Click the **refresh** icon next to the software pills. A green dot means EnginAIer can read and edit your model. A grey pill means the software is not running, or it has not been restarted since you installed the plugin.

---

## 6. Using the chat

### Basic workflow

1. **Select target software** — Click the pill for the app you want (e.g. **C3D Civil 3D 2025**). It must show a green connected dot.
2. **Type your message** — Example: *“List alignments in this drawing”* or *“Read the road layout for Alignment 29”*.
3. **Send** — Press Enter or click the send button.
4. **Review** — The assistant runs tools in your CAD software and replies with results.

### Tips

- **One pill active:** The highlighted pill is where commands are sent.
- **Refresh connection:** Click the refresh icon next to the software pills if a product was opened after EnginAIer.
- **New chat:** Use **+ New chat** in the sidebar for a fresh conversation.
- **Collapse panels:** Use the menu icon (☰) to collapse the chat list; use **◂** on the ACC panel to collapse it to a thin strip and save space.

### Autodesk ACC (Construction Cloud)

1. In the sidebar, under **Autodesk ACC**, click **Connect**.
2. Sign in with your Autodesk account in the browser.
3. The ACC file browser appears — pick hub, project, and files.
4. Attach drawings or models to your message; the assistant can read PDFs and preview models.

ACC connection is separate from your EnginAIer login.

---

## 7. Structural sync bar (Rhino ↔ Tekla)

When Rhino, Grasshopper, or Tekla is connected, a bar may appear below the software pills:

| Control | Purpose |
|---------|---------|
| Green / red dots | Connection status per app |
| **Connect Tekla** | Link Tekla if not connected |
| **Frame views** | Frame Rhino viewports on the building |
| **Setup GH** | Build Grasshopper from the last Tekla pull |

Use this for structural BIM workflows without typing commands in chat.

---

## 8. Troubleshooting

### CAD badge stays grey (not connected)

1. Confirm the CAD application is **open** with a drawing or model loaded.
2. Confirm you have **restarted** that application since installing the plugin.
3. Click the **refresh** icon next to the software badges in EnginAIer.

### “Service unavailable” or chat does not reply

1. Check your internet connection.
2. Close and reopen EnginAIer.
3. If it persists, the cloud service may be under maintenance — contact your administrator.

### The assistant cannot see my drawing

The plugin was installed while the software was already running, so the current session never loaded it. Close the CAD application, open it again, then refresh the badges.

### ACC panel keeps expanding

Collapse it with **◂** in the ACC header; your choice is remembered.

### Reinstalling a plugin

Open **Download plugins → Download**, click **Uninstall** on the plugin card, then **Install** again. Restart your CAD application afterwards.

---

## 9. Daily checklist

| Step | Action |
|------|--------|
| 1 | Start EnginAIer desktop app |
| 2 | Sign in |
| 3 | Open Civil 3D / Revit / etc. |
| 4 | Confirm green dot on the software pill |
| 5 | Select pill → ask your question in chat |

---

## 10. Getting help

- **Status tab** in *Download plugins* — shows installed plugins and next steps.
- **Connection dots** next to each software badge — green means EnginAIer can reach that application.
- **Credits meter** in the sidebar — shows your remaining usage balance.

Still stuck? Contact your EnginAIer administrator with a screenshot of the Status tab.

> Developers maintaining EnginAIer: see `desktop/README.md`, `docs/DEPLOYMENT.md`, and the README files under `plugins/` and `civil3d/`.
